Philippine School Doha (PSD) has once again opened its gates! The school welcomed the students last July 11 to the school’s virtual opening in Zoom. Quarantine may still be imposed due to COVID-19, but it did not restrict the students from their growths in education. Many have changed since the start of the first day; waves of new faces both in the classroom and the staff. A refreshing start to mark a new school year.

A week before the opening, teachers underwent training and practice to prepare themselves for another year of the new normal. Despite the obstacles that were faced in the previous year, the staff has come to learn of their flaws and has overcome that. Through maximizing and thorough study of the Zoom application, the Gmail features, and online learning managements— Philippine School Doha was yet again ready to face virtual education. The respective class advisers commenced with orientations to educate the students on Internet etiquette, and brief introductions were held of what was to come in the present school year. Self-introductions, ice breakers, and quick group activities were done to get the students to know each other and be comfortable. PSD aims to continue solid learning despite holding the education virtually. As Dr. Alexander S. Acosta, the school principal, would usually voice,

“Learning is not confined within the four walls of the classroom,

but may also be within the four walls of our homes.”

However, with the current advancements of the COVID-19 vaccine and the continuous vaccination held in Qatar, it was announced that students are to incorporate blended learning, to ensure the full experience of learning face-to-face.

With a welcoming start given by the staff of Philippine School Doha, the students were now equipped with the basics of a new school year. After a full week to make the students familiar, days to celebrate Eid Al Adha and give students time to rest is to follow.
