Promising class and organization leaders from all levels gathered virtually to be officially sworn into office during the Induction of Officers held in the presence of the concerned vice principals, faculty, and students last August 15.

Dr. Lorina S. Villanueva, the Vice Principal of RDAPO, formally opened the event with a quote from former Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, “Leadership is not all about personality: it’s about behavior— an observable set of skills and abilities.” Villanueva acknowledged that PSDians have all these notable qualities, making them competent leaders.

The masters of ceremonies, Daniel Sansano and Mary Carandang began introducing the class officers of the different departments. The most important experience then took place with the oath-taking ceremony of the IntermediateJunior High School, and the Senior High School Departments. The vice principals of each department inducted their respective officers.

The school’s two major organizations, the Supreme Student Government (SSG) and the LINK, were inducted by Mrs. Melissa R. Montayre, the Vice Principal of OSA.

The students expressed their intentions for the future by vowing to abide by the rules and to maintain active participation in the upcoming school year. These oaths signified both the beginning of the students’ term in office and their commitment to their respective duties and responsibilities which they swore in front of the public.

When asked about the importance of the induction of officers, Enya Lardizabal, the SSG Secretary, stated that “Having the induction of officers is very much relevant, especially during these difficult times when leadership is needed the most. It is the moment where we, leaders, are expected to start internalizing our responsibilities, and the time where students can recognize the people to approach when necessary.”

As the last highlight of the event, the LINKers recited the Journalist’s Creed. Montayre ended the program with her closing remarks. She mentioned the importance of being a servant leader to students aspiring to be a leader in the future. Afterward, she gave a tagline that will surely be memorable to the newly elected officers of S.Y. 2021-2022,

“Dare to be different, if to be different is to be good.”

Montayre said to warmly welcome the students to their new path as leaders.

The induction ceremony is an important ceremonial event that signifies the culmination of the term of office in one’s commitment to the duties and responsibilities in holding an electoral post.
