PSD held its annual induction ceremony in the Edgar V. Bondoc (EVB) Gymnasium for students of various levels and organizations to formally give recognition to their respective positions along with their corresponding duties and obligations last Sept. 18. The officers of the Primary and Intermediate Department were the first ones to be inducted, followed by the officers of the Junior and Senior High School Department.

The Induction, led by the Supreme Student Government (SSG), was hosted by Jaime Sison and Jacob Burog who displayed bright smiles and enthusiasm all throughout the program. To start off, a detailed accomplishment report was shown in a form of a creative video presentation that showcased the numerous projects achieved by the SSG in the previous school year. The highlighted projects were the Dance for A Cause, Battle of the Bands, PSD’s Adopt a School Program, and the Bantay Bata 163 Donations in the Philippines. The SSG President, Paolo Dipasupil, was welcomed on stage to relay a brief message of thanks to his fellow PSDians. Consequently, Dr. Alexander Acosta graced the students with his Welcoming Remarks wherein he gave his reminder about what it takes to be a student leader. He also quoted John Maxwell who said that, “A good leader is a person who takes a little more than his share of the blame and a little less than his share of the credit.”, which was instilled in the minds and hearts of the student leaders. Shortly after, at the end of his speech, he reminded the students that he wished nothing but for them to exemplify the values that the school has taught them.

Both oath-taking ceremonies took place where all class presidents were requested to come up on stage and lead the recitation for elected officers. Class officers were then asked to stand up and raise their right hand to take the oath alongside the presidents and their inducting officers. The induction of the Primary and Intermediate Department began with the officers led by their respective Vice Principals (VPs), Dr. Cleofe Pascual, and Dr. Wilgie Serna, while the club officers of both departments were inducted by the VP of Student Affairs, Ms. Melissa Montayre. Finally, the Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) induction began with the presentation of the elected SSG leaders for this school year by the SSG adviser, Dr. Julius Reyes, starting with the grade level representatives up to the executive officers, who were then inducted by Dr. Acosta. The induction of LINK heads and editors also followed, which was once again led by Ms. Melissa Montayre. The aforementioned students also joined in the recitation of the Journalist’s Creed, which was headed by the LINK moderator, Dr. Fredelito Don John A. Vallesteros. It was then followed by the induction of officers for the JHS led by the Junior High School VP, Dr. Caridad Cañete. The SHS students were next and their inducting officer was the VP of the Senior High School Department, Dr. Noemi Formaran. Shortly after, the officers from the different TLE specializations and clubs also took the oath headed by Ms. Melissa Montayre. The program concluded with a closing prayer by the SSG Peace Officer, Elian Bernales.

The induction of officers is an event that truly attested to PSD’s commitment to fostering the growth and excellence of the nation’s future leaders. Leadership may not be easy, but through PSD, each individual had developed excellency at its finest. Indeed, PSD is simply the best.
