To commemorate the Buwan ng Wika and Discipline Week, a fusion contest was held. With the launching of a Filipino Essay Writing Contest, both nationalism and discipline were highlighted.
Last August 22, the SHS Department was invited to participate in the said contest. A prompt was given for the student’s guide, the prompt specifically said, “paano nakatutulong ang disiplina sa pagkamit ng iyong pangmatagalang layunin sa buhay?”
Not long after, on September 20, the virtual awarding ceremony of the Filipino Essay Writing Contest was held. It was opened by Mrs. Melissa Montayre, the Vice Principal of the Office of Student Affairs. She also emphasized that
“more than the academic achievements, equally important is your values
and discipline in transformation (upon) being an individual”.
Another point she delivered was that PSDians who are about to leave the school will rise above since they bring the values implanted by the school.
Soon, Mrs. Myla P. Cula announced the winners for both grade levels. From the Grade 11 level, three winners have dominated the podium, the first place was given to Ayesha M. Serdeña, followed by the second place given to Safia Lucille B. Barbacena, and the third place was given to Roma Angelica N. Manaois.
For the Grade 12 department, there were two participants who tied for both the third and second place. The winning title of first place was given to Maria Theresse S. Enriquez. Then, the second place was awarded to Eliana Jahleel P. Ignacio and Artanya G. Varquez. Lastly, Shayra Ayah S. Laja and Angela Rowelle N. Basarte brought home the third place.
Enya Lardizabal, the host and peace envoy ambassadress, closed the program with a prayer. This awarding was a brief program that spotlighted the writing skills of the PSDians and gave light to the significance of nationalism and disciplinary values to the school.
