The Philippine School Doha learned to embrace the ‘new normal’ as it held its first virtual Induction of Officers through Zoom Meetings on August 26, 2020. The elected officers of each section from the Junior High School (JHS) to the Senior High School (SHS) Department and the Link Editors and the Supreme Student Government, were officially inducted. New leaders were born yet again, nurtured by our beloved school. These individuals were chosen to become the torchbearers to guide their fellow students to adjust to the new normal.
The masters of the ceremony, Ayesha Ghalia D. Abdullah and Gian Andreu Emmanuel B. Dipasupil enlivened the program’s start with their enthusiastic greetings. They then welcomed the School Principal, Dr. Alexander S. Acosta, for his opening remarks. He gave an encouraging message as he assured the victory of PSD against the pandemic. Dr. Acosta also stated that despite all the challenges, PSD still managed to rise from the storm. Shortly after, Dr. Caridad A. Cañete, the Vice Principal of JHS, led the JHS officers’ induction. This was followed by the SHS officers’ induction, led by the Vice Principal of the SHS department, Dr. Noemi F. Formaran.
Subsequently, the presentation of the Link’s Editors was conducted by Dr. Fredelito Don John A. Vallesteros and was followed by their induction, led by the Vice Principal of the Office of the Student Affairs, Ms. Melissa R. Montayre. Then, Dr. Julius A. Reyes, the SSG adviser, presented the SSG officers, and afterward, Dr. Acosta led their induction. As the program neared its end, Dr. Acosta ignited the passion of serving, engraving in every student’s hearts his inspiring message about leadership. He ended his speech by emphasizing, “As you lead, do not just be the leader, but be the light so that you will be honed to be called PSDians.”
Indeed, the newly inducted officers will bring about a remarkable year for the PSDians— the bearers of light which will act as PSD’s helping hand in achieving the Vision and Mission of the school.
