The Grade 12 students of Philippine School Doha, along with the different companies involved in this program, held their first career simulation seminar-workshop with the theme ‘Partnership Through Work Immersion: Imparting Knowledge and Gearing Aspirants Towards Sustainable Learning’. The program aimed to hone the students’ skills and help them in preparing for college life. The first meeting occurred at the Audio-Visual Room last January 17.

The students were thrilled and were looking forward to another opportunity to hone and practice their skills in specific fields and disciplines. Some of them were unsure of what path they would take, but this program aimed to guide them with that decision. The first event of the day was the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement, or the Memorandum of Understanding, by the community leaders and the representatives of the school. The masters of the ceremony were Allyza Platitas and Rogsh Garcia from Grade 12-Mercury. Several companies joined and were willing to share their expertise with a group of ambitious students. The companies who participated were GEP-Q, NDAP, IPAO, FILARPQ, FILRAQ, PPO, AFEQ, PICPA-DOHA, FDOQ, IECEP-Q, UAP, PNAQ, PICE-QATAR, IIEE-SQC, and PSME. Each of them had the chance to share a brief overview of their field of expertise and the list of professional courses that are in line with the specific area assigned to them. Then, Dr. Alexander Acosta, the school principal, opened the program with his warm and welcoming speech. Subsequently, after the opening remarks and a short intermission was the acceptance of the PPO Chairman, Mr. Cirio Caras, followed by the response of the Senior High School vice principal, Dr. Noemi Formaran. Then, the actual signing of the Memorandum of Agreement occurred, together with a short picture-taking. Later on, the students went to their respective areas and started the first day of their workshop, which lasted for 2 hours.

Overall, the career simulation seminar-workshop encourages the Grade 12 graduating students of Philippine School Doha to which road they will take in a few months from now. Some are still lost, but surely, with the new opportunity given to these students, the latter will show good results. Indeed, PSD is simply the best and continues to strive for service and excellence and, hopefully, would produce globally-skilled graduates.
