Senior High School (SHS) Intramurals – the three day celebration ends successfully as the victors in each sport are awarded in the open court area on September 18, Wednesday.

The SHS Intramurals takes a different approach in selecting the Champion team. Instead of the commonly used point system, the team that racked up the most gold medals is selected as champion, much like the Olympics. In order to get a gold medal, one must be a champion in their sport. There are a total of 36 sports events where all SHS students are able to participate. Each student is allowed to participate in a maximum of two sports.

The Soaring Blue Eagles and Proud Red Tamaraws had a tight matchup as they faced head on for the trophy of the champion. Meanwhile, the Fierce Yellow Tigers and Relentless White Hawks circled against each other as they competed in the battle for third place. As the winners in each sport were announced, proud teams cheered upon their players for their achievements and the effort they displayed.

The moment of truth has arrived, the overall standings of teams have been announced. The Blue Eagles were victorious in their pursuit of a championship belt as they garnered 13 gold medals while the Red Tamaraws were short by one as they garned 12 gold medals. The Yellow Tigers were also triumphant as they were placed third as they garnered 6 gold medals while the White Hawks garnered 5 gold medals.

This year’s Intramurals is indeed intense and the teams showed honor and sportsmanship through unity and camaraderie. As Dr. Alexander S. Acosta stated, “PSD stands for Pare, Sports lang Diba?” At the end of the day, PSDians triumphed against challenges and we are all deserving to be called champions. As the Intramurals concludes, students reunite as they are not separated into 4 teams but rather as one PSD.
